Here Comes the Sun
Submitted by nbcorganist on Mon, 03/17/2008 - 20:30.Well, I was just called today to begin a new assignment. It was an assignment I was offered the day after my last one ended but I had to turn it down at that time due to commitments I had made knowing that I was ending an assignment. The person that had accepted it didn't work out so it was offered to me again. Then, as if working wasn't enough to get excited about, we received a small financial windfall from my grandmother's passing a couple months ago. Yay!
Still Looking!
Submitted by nbcorganist on Thu, 03/06/2008 - 17:45.Well, as my current assignment winds down (my last day will be Tuesday, March 11), I find myself again relying on God to make sure an opportunity comes my way. Since I knew I didn't want this position on a more permanent basis, I had never stopped looking the whole 2½ months I have been there and have had a couple interviews in that time; but, nothing has resulted in a job offer yet. Well, I know that God will provide as long as I do my part and trust in him for the rest.
And Another Month Bites the Dust
Submitted by nbcorganist on Wed, 02/27/2008 - 16:02.Well, another month has come and gone! I just can't figure out where time keeps going. I am going to attempting to make at least one entry each month, most likely at the end of the month, to summarize what has occurred in that month.
Things are looking up again!
Submitted by nbcorganist on Thu, 01/31/2008 - 15:13.Things in my life are beginning to look positive again. I was laid off from my primary job 3 months ago and while I have not found a “permanent” job yet, I have had steady assignments from a temporary agency for the last 1.5 months. I have also been working toward my Certified Bookkeeper designation ever since I was laid off and should be finished with it by the end of February. Once that is done, I plan on trying to start my own bookkeeping practice: JP's Bookkeeping Services.
Whew!!!
Submitted by nbcorganist on Fri, 10/19/2007 - 03:01.It's been quite a while since I've posted anything so I figured I'd just take a couple of minutes tonight to do a quick update of what's been going on to keep me from making some posts over the past 30 days. My last post mentioned that I was elected to the deacon board and my 3-year term began with the church year that started on Oct 1. Also, if you looked at my calendar, you would have noticed that last weekend and this the church is putting on a Judgement House which is taking up a lot of my time.
What a Weekend!!
Submitted by nbcorganist on Mon, 09/17/2007 - 00:50.This was certainly an exciting weekend in the life of our church. Yesterday, a large group of members went out of help other churches in their outreach and evangelism efforts throughout the Charleston area. At the same time as that was happening, several people were helping with the distribution of food that had been purchased through Angel Food Ministries.
Welcome!
Submitted by nbcorganist on Sat, 09/15/2007 - 03:27.Hi! My name is James Prevatt and I am the organist at Northbridge Baptist Church in Charleston, SC. Welcome to my web journal where I'll track music events at the church, special pieces I'm working on, or other things happening in my life that may or may not be related to the church and/or music.
Dating Your Spouse
Submitted by nbcorganist on Sat, 09/08/2007 - 15:19.One thing I am extremely proud of in my relationship with my wife is that, even though we have been married for coming up on 8 years next month, we have never stopped dating. Just last night, we went to the Highway 21 Drive In in Bluffton, one of two remaining drive-in theatres in South Carolina. We had dinner and watched Shrek the Third and Transformers.
HINT: A digital piano is NOT an organ!
Submitted by nbcorganist on Thu, 08/30/2007 - 23:32.Earlier this week, I was called and asked to play for a funeral service that was to happen this morning. Both the pastor and the family member that contacted me told me that the funeral home had a organ. So, I prepared my prelude music fully expecting that I would be playing on a organ.
The Duck & The Devil
Submitted by nbcorganist on Wed, 08/22/2007 - 14:58.I'll tell you something: things happen strangely in my life. For example, Nicole and I will talk about something one day and the very next day, that exact thing that we were talking about will appear somewhere else. Well, after what I wrote yesterday, I happened upon this today:
